About our island Farm & Ranch

Oak Island Farms is a multi-generation farm and ranch nestled between the Columbia and Williamette Rivers on beautiful Sauvie Island. Fifteen minutes from downtown Portland, Sauvie Island is known for its fertile soils, thriving Oregon wildlife and bucolic farming community. From beef cattle to pumpkins, corn and hay, Oak Island Farms is a diversified family ranch bringing the highest quality farm-direct goods to local families.

Tim and Angela Schillereff were married in 1988 and dove head first into the world of small business when they started Sauvie Island Kennels, a premier dog boarding and training kennel. After decades of field trialing, growing the family business and caring for all the four-legged kennel guests, Tim and Angela felt their hearts were leading them to the next big adventure- farming!

In 2001 they purchased an additional 80 acres of land on Sauvie Island to plant duck lakes and provide a premier hunting experience for local sportsmen who’s dogs they trained. Over the years the small farming operation slowly grew as neighboring farms hired Tim to custom plant their fields.

Oak Island Farms was officially established in 2014 when the Schillereff Family jumped into farming and ranching with full hearts and the purchase of a small commercial cattle herd. Since then, Oak Island Farms and Sauvie Island Kennels have grown to include Tim and Angela’s sons, Nick and Tyler, as well as their daughter-in-law Christine. Both small businesses are proudly owned and operated by the Schillereff Family.

Today Oak Island Farms offers local families with pastured beef, corn, pumpkins, grass seed, wheat, silage, earlage and premier horse hay.
